New baby girl!

I just had a baby girl on the 25th, well my wife did anyway. I was there as a cheerleader, Go Honey Go!

It's amazing how a new life in your life can bring things into perspective. When we had our son roughly two and a half years ago I went through the same thing. It's refreshing and it helps reaffirm the direction I'm taking. It also helps light a fire under, well you know.

I look forward to seeing her grow up and start forming her own approach to life. I know I've enjoyed every moment with my son :).

QT direction

So after playing ping pong with my brain, I decided to stick with Qt for the time being. It will help drive my open source initiatives and provide a great interface for people using the software.

However, I think once I get things going I will work on my own super light UI framework. Something similar to FLTK's approach. Of course this will need to be a side-side project.

Genetic Algorithms

After this weekend I feel like I've been under a rock my whole life.

I'm working on a genetic algorithm for something I'll reveal later, but wtf?! These things are rockin'. I'm researching AI used in finance and came across these puppies. I know they may not be perfect, but that's what so perfect about them. If you don't know what I mean at least read the Wikipedia link.

For those who like examples, check this basic example out. Here is a Hello World example from Genertion5.

For those who want a great site for AI in finance and investments, check this out.
